GENERAL TEAM UPDATES

AUGUST UPDATES

Youth Climb Team Booster Club Meeting

WHEN: Monday, August 11th // 7pm-8:30pm

WHERE: Roca’s Birthday Party Room

WHAT: A meeting for climb team parents interested in joining/helping Team Roca’s Booster Club this season. This meeting is PARENT-LED (Connie S.) and will focus solely on parent-organized events to support climb team this season (not to discuss team changes at Roca or USAC changes). The formation of the booster club serves as a more formal way for parents to meet, discuss, plan, and implement events that occur outside of practice/gym organized events. Some past events/ideas for this year include: pasta feeds, pancake breakfasts, chair affair, float for homecoming parades, attending club days/nights at local high schools, etc.

Please contact Connie Scheid if you have any questions or are interested in helping but cannot attend the meeting.

JULY UPDATES

Our ops team has been hard at work this summer discussing and planning changes for the upcoming competition season. These changes are in response to USAC’s changes, growth of the program, ever-increasing costs, and to meet the overall needs of the gym. The changes are necessary for Roca’s Youth Climb Team Program to continue to operate sustainably.

TEAM NAME CHANGE

  • Comp team name is changing to level 4

TRY-OUTS/PLACEMENT

  • We will not be holding a try-out/placement comp for the fall season.

    • Coaches will contact parents of kiddos who will be invited to move teams in the coming weeks, starting as early as August 1st.

Level 3 Team Dues Price

  • Starting September 1st, level 3 team dues will be $160(+tax) to more accurately reflect Roca’s pricing structure for levels 1-3

Saturday AM Practice Time (Levels 3 & 4)

  • Starting September 1st, Saturday morning practices will be from 8am-10am

    • The entire practice will be prior to open gym hours

Level 3 Schedule Change

  • Starting September 1st, Level 3 will practice on Wednesday from 6:30pm-8:30pm and Saturday from 8am-10am

    • Level 3 climbers & their respective coaches will join Level 4 for Saturday AM practice to enjoy practicing outside of gym open hours

      • They will have the entire gym to themselves

      • Climbers will have the opportunity to run more team-specific drills that are not feasible during open hours

Competition Fee for Roca’s USAC Competitors

  • To keep with ever-increasing costs, we are implementing a yearly one-time fee for all climbers who plan to compete at USAC-sanctioned comps during the competition season.

  • $100 per climber paid at the start of the competition season in September

    • This fee helps offset the costs associated with coaching at comps, including travel & lodging for Roca’s coach as well as adjusting for changes made by USAC

    • As a reminder, Roca sends 1 coach to the following comps:

      • Boulder

        • Two qualifying comps (2 closest, geographically, to Roca)

        • Regionals (as long as 3 climbers qualify AND attend)

        • Divisionals (as long as 3 climbers qualify AND attend)
